This was a DIY wedding that turned out so chic. I am obsessed with Hannah’s bouquet of oversized foliage, the colour scheme for forest green and gold and her sleek and sexy wedding dress which was so perfect for the chilly autumn air. What is even more spectacular is how much fun these guys were having. They has a smile from ear to ear all day and believe it or not, that is sometimes hard to come by at weddings. I go into a lot more detail in their own designated blog post.
Kim and Alex are maybe one of my most memorable clients. They were both so sweet and effortlessly in love and not afraid to show it. They had a tasteful civil ceremony then has an indian feast at Dickies Farm (now know as Restaurant Jericho) in Plungar. The whole wedding was elegant and rustic but still very personal. They did a bollywood dance, had early 2000 rock music and cake made entirely of donuts. What’s not to like.
Fun fact- I was so inspired by Kim and Alex’s wedding I had my wedding at the registry office in West Bridgford and I bumped into Kim and her newborn son Jude in the carpark. I couldnt have asked for a better surprise. I was with her on her wedding day and she was with my on mine.
Joe and Sophie met at the University of Nottingham. They have memories of important conversations happening around the lake so it was all very ‘full-circle’ to film their portraits right in that spot. The whole campus is so beautiful so we were able to play with the architecture and nature and really deliver a wedding video they’d be excited to watch over and over again for years to come.
So this wedding might not be my most sophisticated filming because it happened pretty early in my career but a couple things stand out to me. the decor at the reception was so well planned and personal. It was quirky and charming and unlike anything I have every seen at a wedding. For food they had a person cooking over 2 giant paella pans, the live music was French Gypsy Jazz and they had an evening samosa delivery. When it came time to get portrait shots of the happy couple they were busy enjoying themselves so I said “it’s fine to not shoot them but the video will have a different structure than my normal videos”. For them, enjoying the day was more important that portrait shots so I made due and delivered a wedding video that is a bit different but the charm is definitely there.
Their 2022 wedding was elegant and it ran like a well oiled machine. The food was perfect, the band was great, the speeches even touched my cold cold heart. I feel like the filming of this wedding was well done and it captured a true representation of the day. For couples where the wedding is long overdue I feel extra privileged to be a part of their wedding day. I wrote a whole blog about Katie and Mark’s wedding. Check it out
